FPL Strategy: His Journey

Gameweek 22 Review

So another week goes by and another small red arrow for my team 429k down to 471k.

This season really is turning out to be a frustrating one for me. My patient approach on players is proving unsuccessful for now. I think over the next few weeks, I may need to start thinking of some differentials if I want to elevate my ranking.

My goalkeeper (Pope) again didn’t return and is on the list to be removed. He has some tough fixtures and there are other goalkeepers in his price range that I feel have easier fixtures to contend with.

My 4 defenders overall did really well, 3 out of 4 clean sheets, with my new recruit (Sidibe) returning a solid 6 points, so I can’t really complain with that outcome.

Now, my midfield is where I honestly thought I would score big last weekend, however, as quite often this season, it just didn’t get going sadly. The ever so consistent KDB returned well with 9 points and will not be leaving my team any time soon, Salah got an assist and my two budget midfielders only got 4 points between them.

The one player that really annoyed me this week was Raheem Sterling. He was my premium differential and he was playing Aston villa, I was expecting big things from him, but he didn’t even play. As you can imagine, I’m not the biggest fan of PEP right now!

My strikers both did ok with Vardy getting an assist on his birthday and Abraham also getting on the scoresheet. All in all I got a score of 56, which was below what I need right now for a push into the top 10k.

Gameweek 23 Preview

This week, I have two free transfers, I did an early transfer this week so I could beat a price rise for a particular player, this isn’t something I do very often admittedly, but it was important for me to get this player in to align with my future plans and I wouldn’t have been able to afford him if he went up.

So that transfer (as some may already know if you follow my Twitter) was Sterling out and Mané in.

Now, I do actually think Sterling will be great this week, he has a better fixture than Mané, but ultimately, I wanted Mané in my team to complete my triple up of Liverpool players and give myself a chance to score big in GW24.

I have waited until Friday to make a second transfer. To be honest, I was hesitant in making a second change, I wanted to have that available for next week, but decided to use it now. It’s not the most glamourous move, but I think over the next 9-10 gameweeks it will repay me well. So the second transfer is Pope out and McCarthy of Southampton in.

He has decent fixtures and will be my keeper up until my next wildcard now. The one player I have wanted to get in has been Danny Ings, but with my current set up of playing two strikers up front, I have decided against it yet.

It’s something that I know I will probably regret, but I will relook at structuring my team after GW24 now.

This week, it’s a shoot out between KDB, Salah/Mané and Vardy. I think I will end up with KDB as my captain.

The guy is in irresistible form at the moment and I just love watching him play. He is also playing at home against a mid-table team who they to tend to beat very comfortably at the Etihad, so that may swing it for me.

I will finalise my team before kick off and will update my Twitter feed with the final team.

Differential of the Week

This week, my pick is Leandro Trossard.

He was a pre-season favourite and every time I have watched him play I have been so impressed. I’m expecting big things from him this week and beyond with relatively decent fixtures on the cards for Brighton.

Flop of the Week

This week I think it will be Spurs.

I think they will struggle against an improving Watford side and I can’t see the Spurs players like Son or Alli profiting this week.

Hope you all enjoyed the read, thanks again and I will see you next week! Best of luck for the gameweek.
